Dear Friends of Canyon Kitchen,

I have had a few days to reflect on my first summer in Cashiers and I must say, I am still overwhelmed by the memories of the many wonderful people who walked through the doors of Jennings Barn this summer. Not only was I indulged by your eager presence and appreciation at the table, but I must say I was spoiled by the beautiful summer season in Cashiers. I miss those perfect, crisp nights already. And now that the doors have closed, it just doesn’t seem right to miss the fine times of fall in Cashiers.

If you are ready for a little more indulgence, I am too. The barn’s been raised and tested, and you have all played an important role in its success. I think we should gather for some celebration. So this October, we’ll throw open the barn doors for three very special autumn evenings at Canyon Kitchen. This is more than an encore of Canyon Kitchen’s summer experience. These are evenings focused on making the most of the season, great people, great food and great wine.

I have invited a few friends, all with ties to the area, to help us celebrate autumn in the Valley and ease our way into the quiet times of winter. I hope you will join us for some or all of these special seasonal celebrations.

October 15 Louis Osteen, Chef, Hotel Rabun, Clayton, GA
This summer Louis took over the kitchen at the nearby Hotel Rabun. Renowned and oft recognized for his interpretations of Lowcounty Cuisine, we’ll look forward to sharing the high lands with Louis.

Each of these evenings will begin at 6pm outside Jennings Barn in the shadow of Cow Rock, soaking up the glory of autumn in the Valley and enjoying some sips and nibbles. Around 7pm, we’ll ease into the Barn and my guests and I will present a collaborative five-course menu paired with outstanding wines from our guest wineries. As with any barn raising festivity, you will be meeting and dining as a group, seeing old friends and making new ones. After dinner, I hope you will find at least a moment to sit around the fire, inside or out, enjoy the night sky and some fellowship with new and old friends.

The cost of each evening is $125 per person.
Lonesome Valley Property Owners $95

With the barn doors open Canyon Kitchen feels immense, but remember our dining room itself is intimate and seating will be limited. Let us know as soon as possible that you would like to join us for any or all of these events by calling 828-743-7967 or email canyonkitchen@lonesomevalley.com.

Looking forward to seeing you this fall,

John Fleer
